Catch-up and cleanup
Months behind? We catch up your books, then hand your CPA a clean file.
A month-by-month rebuild at a fixed $250 per month of backlog, most recent month first, with a short review at the end and a documented file to your CPA. Then a monthly plan so it never happens again.
You are usually here because
- The bank statements are in a box, the extension runs out in six weeks, and the CPA will not start until the books exist.
- A lender or a buyer asked for last year's financials and you do not have any.
- You tried to catch up yourself in QuickBooks, and now there are two of everything.
Or call (801) 555-0137. Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

How a catch-up runs
Four steps, with a date on each. You know the price before step one.
-
Week 1
Access and inventory
Read-only access to the bank, cards and any existing file. Amari lists every month that needs work and every statement that is missing. You get a fixed price: the number of months times $250, in writing.
-
Weeks 2 to 5
Month-by-month rebuild
Most recent month first, so your CPA can start on the current year while we finish the older ones. Every account reconciled to the statement. Duplicates removed, not hidden.
-
Final week
Review with you
A one-hour call or visit: what the books say, the short list of transactions only you can explain, and anything the CPA will ask about.
-
Handoff
Clean file to the CPA
Closed, reconciled, documented, with a cover note. If you do not have a CPA, we introduce one. Then the monthly plan starts, and the 10th becomes your date.
What you get
What you get at the end
- Every month reconciledBank, card and loan accounts tied to the statements for every month in the backlog.
- One clean fileDuplicates, orphan entries and "ask my accountant" balances resolved, with the reasons documented.
- Missing filings identifiedSales tax and payroll returns that were never filed, listed with the periods, so they can be filed and penalties requested down.
- The year-end packageProfit and loss, balance sheet and the supporting schedules your CPA needs, for each year rebuilt.
- A cover note for the CPAWhat we found, what we assumed, what still needs a decision. CPAs tell us it saves them hours.
- A monthly plan afterTrail, Ridge or Summit from the next month, so the backlog never comes back.
The detail
Books first, then taxes
Owners who are behind usually call a tax preparer first, because the deadline is a tax deadline. The preparer cannot start without books, so the clock keeps running. We start with the books, most recent month first, so by the end of week two your CPA has the current year and can file an extension or a return while we finish the rest.
We do not shame anyone for the state of the drawer. Everyone who calls this page is already embarrassed enough. The useful conversation is how many months, how many accounts, and which date you need the file by.

01How far back can you go?
As far as the statements exist. The furthest we have rebuilt is five years. Banks keep statements online for a limited time, so the first job in week one is downloading everything before it disappears.
02How long does a catch-up take?
Roughly a month of backlog per working day once the statements are in, so a year behind is about four weeks. If you have a deadline, say so on the first call and we plan around it.
03Is the price really fixed?
Yes. Months of backlog times $250, in writing after the week-one inventory. The only things that change it are more accounts than we counted or statements that turn out not to exist, and we tell you before we continue.
04What if I never filed sales tax or payroll returns for those months?
We list every period that was missed, with the amounts from the rebuilt books. Sales tax returns we file on TAP. Payroll returns we file if you move to our payroll service. Penalty abatement requests are something we draft for you to send; the agencies are more generous than most owners expect for a first offence.
05Will my CPA accept your file?
Every file we have handed over has been accepted. The cover note is the reason: it tells the CPA what we did, what we assumed and what still needs their judgment, so they are not auditing our work before they can start theirs.
