Monthly bookkeeping

Your books closed by the 10th, every month.

Bank and card reconciliation, receipts matched, sales tax filed on TAP, 1099s in January, and a three-line summary in your inbox by the 10th. One flat monthly fee from $395, with Renee reviewing every close.

You are usually here because

  • It is Sunday night again and the receipts are still in the bag from the truck.
  • Your CPA sent the year-end file back with a note that started "before I can begin".
  • You are not completely sure the last sales tax return was filed, and TAP will not say.

Or call (801) 555-0137. Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

On the calendar

What happens each month

The same dates for every client. You see the calendar; we keep it.

  1. By the 3rd

    Feeds and receipts in

Bank, card and loan feeds pull in automatically. You drop receipts in the shared folder or snap them in the app. Kenji chases anything that did not connect.

  2. By the 7th

    Reconciled

Every account reconciled to the statement, every transaction categorised, every receipt matched. Anything we cannot place goes on a short list for you, not into "ask my accountant".

  3. By the 9th

    Reviewed

Renee reviews the close: margins, anything unusual, anything the CPA will ask about in January.

  4. On the 10th

    Closed, with a summary

Three lines in your inbox: what came in, what went out, what is in the bank. The full reports are in your file.

The detail

Sales tax and 1099s, done from the books

Sales tax is the Utah filing that catches most owner-run businesses, because it is due even in a slow month and the rate depends on where you sell. We calculate it from the reconciled books, file it on TAP by the due date, and keep the confirmation in your file. If you sell online into other states, Kenji tracks the thresholds and we file where you owe.

1099s are the January job nobody remembers in July. We collect a W-9 from every contractor the first time you pay them, so January is a button, not a scramble.

Who leads it

A light plywood desk at month end: a closed notebook, a plain calculator, a neat stack of receipts and a mug of coffee

Before you call

Questions owners ask before they call

Not answered here? Call (801) 555-0137 and ask.

01Which software do you use?

QuickBooks Online or Xero, whichever you already have. If you have neither, Kenji sets up QuickBooks Online, connects the bank feeds and your point-of-sale, and the subscription is in your name, not ours, so the file is always yours.

02What do I have to do each month?

Get receipts into the shared folder or the app by the 3rd, and answer the short list of questions we send when something does not categorise itself. For most clients that is twenty minutes a month.

03What if my books are a mess right now?

Then we start with a catch-up, priced per month of backlog, and move you to the monthly plan once the last month is closed. The catch-up page explains how it runs.

04Do you do the income tax return?

No. We are not a CPA firm. We hand your CPA a clean file in January and talk to them directly about anything unusual. If you need a CPA, we introduce you to one of three Salt Lake firms we work with.

05Can you handle more than one entity or location?

Yes. The Summit plan covers two entities; more than that is quoted. Multiple locations under one entity are tracked by location in the same file at no extra charge.
